Romania’s Perception of the EU Defence Industrial « Toolbox »
Senior Lecturer in Strategy and Technology in the Department for Politics, Philosophy and Religion, Lancaster University
The series “EU Members’ Perception of the EU Defence Industrial ‘Toolbox’” examines how EU Member States perceive the European ‘Defence Industrial Toolbox’. Over time, the European Union (EU) could gradually establish itself as a central player in the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB). In recent years, the EU has launched several initiatives aimed at to enhancing defence industrial cooperation among EU countries and their defence companies. For Member States, this represents a major paradigm shift. How do they view this new role that the EU – and especially the European Commission – are called upon to acquire? What utility and added value do they see in the EU’s toolbox for supporting the EDTIB?
