Caroline Roussy is a senior research fellow at IRIS, Head of the Africa/s Programme. She currently heads the Sahel Observatory carried out by IRIS on behalf of the French Ministry of Defence. Her research mainly focus on topics concerning borders, territories, identity and regional integration processes in West Africa.
Before joining IRIS, she had worked as a programme assistant for the National Organisation of La Francophonie in the Peace, Human Rights and Democracy department; for the CNRS as a research engineer; and as an international consultant for USAID, production agencies, and public figures.
Caroline Roussy is co-founder of the Africa Acts modern art festival, she writes notes and articles, and is also co-author of several publications, including a programmatic note on the future of La Francophonie in 2018, and two chapters in the book L’urgence africaine. She holds a PhD in History of Modern Africa from Paris 1 – Panthéon Sorbonne, she wrote a thesis entitled: The construction of the Senegalese and Gambian border: territories, territoriality and identities (1850-1989).
